PCR TEST FOR TRAVEL

Due to regulations and conditions of traveling during the pandemic, it is mandatory to have a proof of negative COVID19 PCR test with you while crossing the country borders. It is also the obligation to get a follow-up PCR test on the third day after arrival in Georgia.

We, the only internationally accredited laboratory in Georgia, issue the PCR-examination certificate in Georgian, English, and Russian within 8-12 hours to be presented at the border.

Differences between types

Test Types

PCR

MOLECULAR TEST

Molecular testing based on PCR (polymerase chain reaction) technology to detect the virus in nasopharyngeal smear, respiratory lava, blood, and feces.
This is the gold standard that allows the virus to be detected in the nasopharyngeal smear even on the first day of infection, at a very early stage, even in the asymptomatic phase. If the test is positive, you can say that the person is infected.

Lateral Flow

RAPID TEST

In a test based on the detection of an antibody in the blood, we look for two types of antibodies, in immunology it is called immunoglobulin G and immunoglobulin M.
The detection of immunoglobulin M in the blood means that it is in the acute phase. It appears in the blood on the fifth-eighth day after infection.
The discovery of immunoglobulin G in the blood indicates that a person has already been infected.
The second type of rapid test is based on antigen and takes 15-20 minutes to get the result. The specificity and sensitivity of this type of test range from 80% to 85%.
The study material in this case is also a nasopharyngeal smear.
